"Clickety clack, clickety clack" will be the sound of horses hooves riding through Cijin on the 9th of July in order to mark the opening of the 2005 Summer Festival. This will be the first time policemen have ever rode horses around Cijin - an island known for its blue skies, beautiful ocean, historical relics, and deliciously fresh seafood.
"Viva Kaohsiung - Summer Festival 2005" will run for two months and will include the Ocean Festival, the World Games Festival, a concert, and many beach activities. The Festivals are to be held at Cijin, Sizih Bay, and Love River.
The development of Kaohsiung all began in Cijin and later spread out to the surrounding districts. Part of the fun of going to Cijin is how you actually get there. Visitors to this quaint little island (8.5 kilometers by 400 metres) can choose to either drive or catch a ferry. Starting from the Cianjhen District, you'll drive through a 1,550-metre-long tunnel passing under Kaohsiung Port. Alternatively visitors travelling by scooter or foot can catch a ferry from the Gushan Pier. The ferry ride only takes five minutes and provides visitors with a great opportunity to experience Kaohsiung from the harbour.
"Kaohsiung Tourism Mounted Police Team" will officially open the festival on the 9th of July. Once the festival is under way, visitors can choose to see the island by chauffeured tricycle whereby they can stop off for some delicious, yet cheap seafood. Visitors may also choose to stroll around the Cijin Coastal Park, have fun at Cijin Beach, or spend a moment with the policemen and their horses.
On the 9th of July, 24 policemen from Chicago, Portland and numerous other cities will join the policemen from Taiwan in the riding of the horses. There will be a total of thirty policemen on horses trotting through Cijin. The group is to be led by Mayor, Chi-Mai Chen, and will be followed by a team of musicians and flag bearers. In total, the ceremony will consist of the Kaohsiung Tourism Mounted Police team as well as the Mounted Police team from overseas, the 850-cc motorcycle team, the Cijin tricycle team, a team of cyclists, street performers, and a team of roller skaters. The marching group is going to march from the Wind Turbine Park to Cijin Beach and the Mounted Police are going to perform at the beach. After that, visitors will be able to see the "Kaohsiung Tourism Mounted Police" at Cijin Island every weekend and public holiday.
The 2005 Summer Festival is to run for two months from July the 9th to September the 2nd. The Marine Exposition and the World Games Carnival are going to begin in August, and will be held every weekend in Sizih Bay. Besides the activities on the sand, there will also be water activities such as banana boat rides and sailing shows, which were very popular in last year's festival. Furthermore, the beach campfire is another activity that is expected to attract everyone's attention.
The "Love Forever" activities are to be held at Love River starting from the August the 5th to August the 14th. Different music will be played including Latin music, 50's, 60's, and 70's love songs, and Jazz music.
清涼繽紛的「夏不落日」系列活動 文／劉萬枝 攝影／高嘉澤 達、達的馬蹄聲，從7月9日開始，全台第一支離島騎警隊─「高雄市觀光騎警隊」將在擁有藍天、碧海、古蹟與海鮮的觀光島─旗津響起，以此宣告「夏‧不落日」系列活動正式展開。 連續2個月的「夏‧不落日」活動，包括海洋嘉年華、世運嘉年華、熱情音樂晚會、沙灘活動等，將在旗津、西子灣、愛河等親水場域清涼繽紛地展開。 要到這個高雄市的發祥地，全台灣唯一都會型的離島─旗津，可以從兩個方向前行：一個適合騎摩托車或步行的旅者，從鼓山輪渡站搭乘渡輪，在五分鐘內橫渡高雄港，飽覽港區風光後在旗津輪渡站下船直抵旗津島；另一個適合開車的遊客，從前鎮區穿越長1550公尺的高雄港過港海底隧道，進入這個長約8.5公里，平均寬度約400公尺的觀光旗津島。 「高雄市觀光騎警隊」7月9日在旗津正式成立，從此，到旗津除了可乘坐三輪車、享受價廉味美的生猛海鮮，以及漫步在海岸公園，在旗津海水浴場戲水外，還可跟「觀光騎警隊」共度快樂時光。 高雄市觀光騎警隊成立當天，有芝加哥、波特蘭等6個城市的24位騎警，加上「高雄市觀光騎警隊」30位俊秀挺拔的男女騎警，在旗津舉行大遊行；遊行隊伍由陳其邁市長領軍，樂旗隊、高雄市觀光騎警隊、外國騎警隊、850CC的重型機車隊、旗津三輪車隊、自行車隊、街頭藝人、直排輪隊，浩浩蕩蕩的從風車公園遊行到旗津海水浴場。在海水浴場沙灘上，騎警隊進行校閱及精彩的表演，今後，每逢週六、日、國定假日，在旗津都可以看到「高雄市觀光騎警隊」英挺的身影。 而「夏．不落日」系列活動從觀光騎警隊成軍揭開序幕後，從7月9日至9月2日將持續進行兩個月；海洋嘉年華和世運嘉年華從8月開始，每週六、週日在西子灣舉行，除在沙灘上有活動之外，海上活動也很精彩，去年海上活動香蕉船、帆船秀等都大受歡迎；另外還有熱情揚溢的沙灘營火音樂會，歡迎大家蒞臨。 而在愛河畔舉行的「永浴愛河」活動，則是從8月5日至8月14日每天浪漫登場，有拉丁風情、50、60、70年代的老情歌，爵士樂等，陪伴民眾永浴愛河。 |
