Lately, if you take a stroll along the streets of Kaohsiung, you will be able to feel excitement mounting as the 2009 World Games approach. That enormous ball displaying the figure '9' rising right next to Kaohsiung's International Airport during the San Miguel Asian 9 Ball Tour, seemed to proclaim that Kaohsiung is not only a "Maritime Capital" but also becoming the "Sports Capital" of the whole of Taiwan.
The 7th World Games is going to be held in Duisburg, Germany this year from July the 14th to 24th and Kaohsiung, as the host city for the 8th World Games, will grasp at this opportunity to announce to the world that Kaohsiung is ready!
On the day of the World Games 2005 closing ceremony, the count down to the commencement of the 2009 World Games begins as the ceremonial flag is presented by the sponsor city Duisburg to the delegation from Kaohsiung so that they may introduce our city to the world and welcome all to take part in a sports carnival by the sea in the year 2009.
The theme of this important presentation will be "Prosper with Kaohsiung - A City of Mountains and Ocean" to represent the featured landscape, and how ethnic fusion creates the unique cultural style which exists in Kaohsiung. Therefore, the performers for this particular presentation will basically be chosen from performing groups in Kaohsiung included the Honan Opera Troupe of the National Guo-guang Chinese Opera Company, the Fan Mei Dance Company, the Kaohsiung City Ballet, and the Zuyun Culture Music Dance Group. Moreover, we have invited the Chairman of the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan Foundation, Chi-Mei Wang to be the Consultant Artist of this magnificent event.
The interpretation of "Prosper with Kaohsiung - A City of Mountains and Ocean" is a combination of Praying Ritual Dance by the Zuyun aboriginal dancers which will represent the 'Mountain' while the Water Sleeve Dance and Lotus Dance will represent the 'Ocean'. In addition, our national treasure 'Honan Opera Queen', Ms. Hai-Ling Wang is also going to perform a dance of the Hanan opera and Taiwanese Opera, to indicate ethnic unity and a picture of prosperity.
Our fellow citizens will surely be longing to witness this production: 'The glory of Taiwan'. On the afternoon of 24th July (Taiwan time), there will be a live broadcast via the Internet as well as the media showing the performance taking place in Germany, enabling everyone, throughout Taiwan, to enjoy the display. Moreover, after the delegation returning to Taiwan, they will once more give us a perfect performance.
A deeper implication of the flag ceremony and the presentation of the performance, is to allow Kaohsiung to become known worldwide, and thereby develop diplomatic relation with other countries. The Mayor of Kaohsiung, Chi-Mai Chen, is not only leading the official delegation to Duisburg, but is also taking the best performance teams with him. Apart from Duisburg, he will also be visiting several key cities in Europe, in an effort to build up a friendship between Kaohsiung and these cities. It is hoped that this trip will improve Taiwan's diplomatic difficulties, and to encourage further contact with European countries. This will be a great opportunity for them to have a better understanding of Taiwan in general and Kaohsiung in particular. Kaohsiung is definitely going to prove a relation. Therefore, "Attention please, Duisburg and Europe, because Kaohsiung is coming your way!"
杜易斯堡，高雄來了！ 文／王御風 圖片提供／文化局 最近走在高雄的街上，越來越能感受即將舉辦2009世運會的氣氛，九號球的亞洲巡迴賽在高雄市舉行，而那顆矗立在小港機場旁的大型九號球，更彷彿宣布高雄市除了是「海洋首都」外，更將成為台灣的「運動首都」。 第七屆世界運動會，就在今（2005）年7月14日至24日，在德國杜易斯堡舉行，身為下屆主辦城市的高雄市，也將好好把握這個機會，告訴所有的國家，高雄已經準備好了。 2005年世運會閉幕儀式當天，主辦城市杜易斯堡，將把會旗交給高雄市，象徵著2009高雄世運會，正式進入倒數階段，高雄市也將表演一段節目，向世人介紹高雄，歡迎大家在2009年來到高雄，參加一場蔚藍海岸旁的運動嘉年華。 這場重要的表演將以「山海高雄、共生繁榮」為主題，表達高雄市有山有海的景觀特色，以及各族群融合，共同塑造的高雄風貌。因此演出者，將以高雄市的表演團體為主，包括王海玲老師的豫劇隊、李慧美老師的汎美舞蹈團、張秀如老師的高雄城市芭蕾舞團、祖韻文化樂舞團，並邀請雲門舞集基金會董事汪其楣擔任藝術顧問。 「山海高雄、共生繁榮」該如何表現：「山」將以祖韻原住民的山地祈福舞呈現，「海」則有張秀如老師策劃的水袖舞以及李慧美老師的蓮池潭蓮花荷葉舞，而國寶級「豫劇皇后」王海玲也搭配豫劇隊的舞打動作吟唱歌仔戲及豫劇，象徵著族群團結的「共生繁榮」，而原來主辦單位規劃的表演時間是八分鐘，後來因感受到節目的精彩豐富，延長為二十分鐘，讓世界各國更能深入瞭解高雄。 國人與市民應該也很想目睹這次「台灣之光」的演出。別擔心，拜科技之賜，節目在德國演出時（七月二十四日晚間，台灣時間為當天下午），將透過網路及媒體的轉播，讓高雄市民及全台灣民眾能夠同步欣賞，而團隊返國後也將再作一次完美呈現。 這次的接旗與演出另一個深層意義，是讓「高雄走出去」，做好一次良好的「城市外交」。高雄市長陳其邁不僅親自率團出航杜易斯堡，更將帶著精彩的表演團隊，順道拜訪歐洲重要城市，建立高雄市與這些城市間的友誼，對於同樣愛好民主、自由的歐洲與台灣，長年來因國際外交困境無法相互進一步接觸，這將是個讓歐洲各國瞭解台灣以及高雄的好機會，而高雄也勢必會讓大家驚豔不已。杜易斯堡、歐洲，請注意，高雄來了！ |
