Shao-du's college life in Kaohsiung / 小杜的高雄大學生活
Lai-Mei Lin is currently studying at the National Kaohsiung University. She comes from one of Taiwan's friendly ally countries, namely South Africa - Swaziland. Lai Mei-Lin's English name is Dumile, however, her classmates called her "Shao-du", which sounds particularly amiable. She has already been staying in Taiwan for four years, and her Chinese pronunciation is correct and fluent. In addition to that, when she heard Taiwanese people speaking Chinese with the prominent Taiwanese accent, it really interested her.
In regards to the last four years in Taiwan, Lai Mei-Lin's describes Taiwan as a fun place to be in. As a result of her father's job, Lai Mei-Lin moved to Taiwan four years ago and began studying in the Taipei American School. Later on, she transferred to the southern part of Taiwan to attend Kaohsiung University. In university, she has earned the title of the "most beautiful girl on campus". Currently, she is in her third year at university. She admits to acquiring a lot of practical knowledge through her classes and hopes to find a job soon after she graduates. Her open and energetic personality explains her dislike of the "normal" office job. She would much prefer to interact with people on a daily basis, therefore deciding that a sales or public relation job would be her first choice. By majoring in management, Lai Mei-Lin expressed that if there is an opportunity in the future to open a South African restaurant, then that would be a new experience for her.
After living in Kaohsiung for three years, Lai Mei-Lin is used to the pace of Kaohsiung life. Besides school, her life is full of activities. She likes to shop with friends in Sin-jyue-jiang Shopping Avea, and also loves to sing at karaoke and watch movies with her friends. Lai Mei-Lin explains that friends to her are extremely important; she always goes to downtown Kaohsiung with her friends to visit places such as Love River, various night markets, Cijin, and Sizih Bay, being sure to never pass up an opportunity for a fun time.
However, Lai Mei-Lin feels that the bright sun particularly favors Kaohsiung, and thinks that the weather in Southern Taiwan is too hot. Therefore, on these hot days she can be found enjoying an icy beverage. She especially loves boba tea, lemon green tea with boba, and green tea with passion fruit. She also likes to eat salty fried chicken and mango shaved ice. Furthermore, while most foreign people are afraid of stinky tofu, she finds it quite nice.
目前在國立高雄大學就讀的賴美玲，來自我國在非洲的友邦～史瓦濟蘭，英文名字為Dumile的賴美玲，同學都稱她小杜，聽來格外親切，來台四年，說起中文字正腔圓，相當流利，因此，當她聽到台灣人講「台灣國語」時，特殊的口音令她感覺相當有趣。
談起來台灣的這四年，在賴美玲的印象中，覺得台灣相當好玩，四年前，因父親工作的關係，在台北美國學校唸書，後來轉到南部就讀高雄大學，在學校素有「校花」之稱，目前已經大三的她表示，在課堂上學到很多有用的知識，畢業之後，希望可以趕快找到工作，個性開朗活潑的她，不喜歡朝九晚五的辦公室生活，她喜歡與人接觸，因此和業務有關或公關之類的工作，則是她的第一志願，主修管理的賴美玲表示，如果有機會在高雄開個非洲美食餐廳，將是個挺新鮮的嚐試。
在高雄生活了三年，賴美玲已習慣了高雄的步調，除了學校，賴美玲的生活多采多姿，她喜歡與同學到新堀江逛街，熱愛唱歌的她也常和同學一起去KTV和看電影，賴美玲說，朋友對她而言是「超重要」！常常偕同學一起到高雄市區，愛河、夜市、旗津、西子灣等等，絕對不錯過任何好玩的地方。不過，賴美玲覺得大太陽似乎特別眷戀高雄，她直呼南台灣的天氣太熱，因此，她說，在大熱天來杯清涼的飲料最好，她尤其偏愛珍珠奶茶、檸檬綠茶加珍珠和百香綠茶三種，此外，她也喜歡吃鹹酥雞、芒果冰，而外國人怕怕的臭豆腐，她也不會排斥。
