The Lighthouse Bar & Grill and Blue Sands

　Ice cold beer has always been the coolest element of nightlife. It serves as a great ice breaker, helping people to open up to one another, and loosening our tightened nerves. Even a man of few words would begin to pour out after a few beers. Let us explore the charm of the fermented barley juice that is the golden ambrosia to mankind in the featured beerhouses "The Lighthouse" and "Blue Sands".

◎The Lighthouse Bar & Grill 

　As the night falls, the glorious neon lights on Kaohsiung City's Fuguo Road begin to wake up from their slumber during the day. Among them, the Western style bar "The Lighthouse" is there, welcoming its patrons with cheerful western music and its rugged and bold decor. Entering The Lighthouse is an experience of instant transformation into a Western tavern.

　One would never be disappointed by the selection of beer at the Lighthouse. From popular brands such as Heineken and Budweiser, to international brands such as Guinness of Britain, Hoegaarden of Belgium, Erdinger Dark of Germany, and Coors Light, Lighthouse's got them. Not only that, the tavern owner also imports Carlsberg draught from Denmark. Produced by the internationally renowned brewery, Carlsberg draught is famous for its refreshing taste without bitterness, and is widely popular among beer lovers internationally.

　Besides the beer, Lighthouse also serves up an exciting menu of bar food. The crispy chicken tenders and fries combo is the best companion to your beer. The crisp and savory flavor of hot chicken tenders and fries are complimented by the two dipping sauces: red ketchup for your fries, yellow honey mustard for the chicken. The sweet touch of the honey makes the mustard sauce stand out from the ordinary yellow mustard.

◎Blue Sands 

　If you would like to treat your taste buds with the unique flavors of Belgian beers, Blue Sands is the place to go. This beerhouse boasts an extensive collection of Belgian beers that is peerless in Kaohsiung City. The menu lists as many as 56 different Belgian beers from the seven major categories; including white beers, blond ales, stout, red ales, fruit beers, amber beers, and champagne beers. It is a fair representation of most types of Belgian beers.

　The most significant difference between Belgian beers and other brews is the unique fruity scent. The restaurateur explained that in Belgium, beers are laced with flavor-enhancing agents such as spices, fruit, and caramel on top of the basic ingredients: malt, hops, and yeast. The result is a unique fragrant and sweet aftertaste, especially the Belgian fruit beers that have had fruit juice added. They are known for their distinctive fruity taste.

　The Blue Sands adopted a Belgian farmhouse theme, but don't let the long beer menu take all of your attentions. The beerhouse is also a restaurant, and its impressive menu features a wide range of international cuisine that is guaranteed to satisfy everybody. The Schweinshaxe is a must for anyone who is considering a food that would enhance the beer-drinking experience. This crispy skin and hearty meat of this pork knuckle dish is the best companion to your Belgian beer.

燈塔&夜光蟲

冰涼沁心的啤酒一直是夜生活不可或缺的重要元素，它可以打破隔閡，拉進彼此的距離，也可以讓緊繃的神經，得到釋放，甚至還可以讓惜字如金的人，變成滔滔不絕的演說家，啤酒，這個金黃色發酵麥汁的魔力，就從「燈塔」和「夜光蟲」開始！

◎燈塔  

　當夜幕低垂、華燈初上，高雄市富國路上的「燈塔」也從白天的沈睡中慢慢甦醒。充滿美式風格的「燈塔」，以輕快悅耳的西洋音樂、粗獷豪邁的裝潢擺設，營造美國西部鄉村酒館的氛圍。

　啤酒是「燈塔」的強項，不論是海尼根、百威等暢銷品牌，還是英國健力士、比利時豪格登、德國艾丁格黑啤、酷爾斯低熱量啤酒，這裡都喝得到，此外，業者還特別引進丹麥「嘉士伯」生啤酒，這款國際知名啤酒廠牌，以清爽不苦澀聞名於世，廣受國外啤酒客好評。

　除了啤酒，「燈塔」的餐點也令人激賞，酥炸雞柳條薯條雙拼是搭配啤酒的最佳良伴，雞柳和薯條口感香酥可口，附帶一黃、一紅兩碟沾醬，紅色的番茄醬沾薯條、黃色的蜂蜜黃芥末醬，比一般黃芥末，自然更勝一籌，用它沾雞柳，味道更為鮮甜。

◎夜光蟲  

　想體驗口味獨特的比利時啤酒，到「夜光蟲」準沒錯，這裡大概是高雄市比利時啤酒款式最齊全的啤酒餐廳了，比利時啤酒種類多達56款之多，白啤、金啤、黑啤、紅啤、水果啤、琥珀啤、香檳啤等七大類型的比利時啤酒，這裡幾乎都不缺。

　比利時啤酒和一般啤酒最大的不同，在於它的獨特果香味，業者表示，除了大麥芽、啤酒花和酵母菌等釀製啤酒必備原料，比利時人釀啤酒時，常會加入香料、水果、焦糖，因此，釀出來的啤酒會有香甜的喉韻，尤其是水果口味的比利時啤酒，果香味更重。

　以比利時農莊情境裝潢設計的「夜光蟲」，不只比利時啤酒種類琳瑯滿目，由於採餐廳型態經營，菜色相當搶眼，業者以無國界料理滿足每位客人的需求，其中，有著酥脆表皮、肉質Ｑ韌的德國豬腳，更是搭配比利時啤酒的最佳良伴。
