Travelers visiting Kaohsiung have been steadily increasing over the last few years. In May 2015, the Tourism Bureau of Ministry of Transportation and Communications began issuing prepaid IC tickets known as the Kaohsiung, Ping Tung and Penghu (KPP) Taiwan iPass. The pass includes options for travelers to purchase various travel packages and discounts on transportation and discounts on souvenirs, thousand hotels, restaurants and attractions. Moreover, it can be utilized on Kaohsiung Rapid Transit System, city bus and Taipei Mass Rapid Transit. Visitors can purchase, use and deposit money onto their cards at any Kaohsiung Rapid Transit System station or 24 hour convenient store such as 7-11, Family Mart, Hi- Life and OK Mart.
KPP Taiwan iPass also offers exclusive travel packages including a three day option in Penghu, two days in Kenting or Kaohsiung, plus a tour of Fo Guang Shan. The other option is a customized day tour with the choice of various attractions in Kaohsiung including Lotus Pond and Cijin Island or a visit to Ping Tung's hot springs. Additional travel packages and sightseeing attractions can always be added at a discount.
KPP Taiwan iPasses can be purchased online at http://goo.gl/9Z5IGd Visitors will receive a confirmation number which they will present when they collect their cards at any Kaohsiung Rapid Transit System station's information counter. When a 24 hour unlimited usage of Kaohsiung's Rapid Transit System option is purchased, visitors will need to visit an Rapid Transit System information counter at any station, in order to have it activated.
The KPP Taiwan iPass offers visitors the added bonus of only needing a single card for all their travel needs, without having to carry around a lot of money or tickets.
