Director Engsriswasdi Look After Thai Laborers in Kaohsiung

　　Since taking office in last December, Director Damrongsak Engsriswasdi of Thailand Trade and Economic Office has continuously visited many Thai laborers to understand their working environment. Walking into his office, you would see Director Engsriswasdi busy discussing works with colleagues. On the office wall hung an extraordinarily big map of Taiwan, clearly indicating the purview of Thailand Trade and Economic Office. According to Director Engsriswasdi, their services cover areas such as Pingdong Yunlin and Zhanghua. What's more, in 1994, they established Thailand Trade and Economic Office Labour Division Kaohsiung Office, which serves for more than 30 thousand Thai laborers who work in Southern Taiwan. No wonder Director Engsriswasdi's work schedule is always tight.

　　Director Engsriswasdi had never been to Taiwan before taking office. This year, he spent his first Chinese New Year in Taiwan with his wife. Director Engsriswasdi said he adjusted well to his new life, except that he still finds it awkward to drive on different side of road in Taiwan. However Director Engsriswasdi's busy work hasn't allowed much spare time for him to travel around the island. During the Chinese New Year holidays, he chose to go to department stores and retailers in Kaohsiung so as to avoid traffic. He also went for a walk in university campus and met with many friendly Koahsiung residents. They talked to him with fluent English, which gave him a lot of warm feelings. When talking about Kaohsiung, Director Engsriswasdi happily praises Koahsiung's good weather. He especially likes Cijin and has spent spare time visiting famous Taiwanese "night market." He is not only fascinated by Taiwanese dishes, but also interested in Taiwanese temples, and hopes to have more time to appreciate the beautiful temple architectures.

　　Director Engsriswasdi expressed his pleasure to serve Thai laborers in Kaohsiung. Thailand Trade and Economic Office provides a variety of services, such as review of Thai laborers' employment applications, check on the rights and obligations of Thai laborers and their employers, assistance in dispute settlements and court interpretation for Thai. Their goal is to fully serve any Thai laborer in need. Thailand Trade and Economic Office provides visa services every Thursday. This service is very popular among Thai laborers who live in southern Taiwan, because with this service they no longer need to spend time traveling to Taipei.
