Kinetic Youth in South Taiwan
The Century Welcome Party for New Generation, which is hosted by Information Office, Kaohsiung City Government, on Hsitzuwen Beach Resort on October 4. Everyone was impressed by those kinetic youth in south Taiwan. During this event, the vitality of Kaohsiung City presented itself in a way that is utterly like any other significant cities in the world.
Varied features in South Taiwan
Recently, a rise of street performance in Kaohsiung City increases the atmosphere of art and culture. The gathering of young people in Bachoungchoa at New Chueh Chiang Market allows them to display their talent for music. They come from music societies at the schools, performances and furthermore to set up bands in hope that one day they can be one of the popular groups, such as May day and Shin, in entertainment.
Noteworthily, a university association is going to begin for the new semester in South Taiwan. After North University Association and Middle University Association, and now the initiation by Youang Chan-Whei, the Student Union General Secretary of National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology. Also combining with National Sun Yat-sen University and National University of Kaohsiung to be "South Taiwan University Autonomy Association", which is short "S.T.U.A.A". The purpose is to reorganize resource sharing, exchanging academic experience, the activity combining with other universities, and emulating each other.
So far, there are many universities that include private and state universities in South Taiwan are wishing to join and support the plan, which are National Ping-Tung Teachers College, Stu-Te University, Tung-Fang Institute of Technology, National Kaohsiung Normal University, Kaohsiung Hospitality College, Fortune Institute of Technology, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, and I-Shou University.
National University of Kaohsiung Student Autonomy President, Chen Luen-Ming, points out that S.T.U.A.A. is still preparing, there is no clear formal organization yet. Although the difficulties of connection along Universities, time arrangement, and the distance, which cause the plan working slowly, but he indicates optimistically that combining all the Universities in South Taiwan via the Association to facilitate the interflowing with each University and create more opportunities of cooperation, and finally reach the purpose of reorganizing education resources.
Youth Affairs Commission
The Mayor of Kaohsiung City, Frank Hsieh, would like to utilize the vitality and creativity of young people into government construction. A plan of establishment of Kaohsiung City Youth Affair Commission is conducting. This commission aims to educate young people and provide the opportunity for potential youth to participate government program. 南台灣的青年活力
由高雄市政府新聞處主辦，南台灣首次大專院校迎新晚會「2003 N_age超猛迎新派對」，於十月四日選擇在南台灣最美麗的沙灘西子灣熱情引爆！讓各界看到南台灣的青年活力，讓高雄YOUNG起來與世界各大城市同步接軌。
南台灣多采的面貌
高雄市近日興起的街頭藝人表演，為城市增添了不少藝術人文氣息，而青少年集散地新崛江商圈內的八重洲，更是青春洋溢的學生們盡情揮灑音樂細胞的空間，他們從學校音樂社、演唱會到組樂團，希望能繼超人氣偶像五月天和信樂團之後，在樂壇闖出另一個響亮的名號。
值得一提的是，南台灣的新學期即將誕生新的大學聯盟組織，有鑑於北大聯、中大聯等學生組織在台灣的大學校園已行之多年，日前由高雄應用科技大學學生活動中心總幹事尤千慈同學發起，並與中山大學、高雄大學的學生自治組織負責人聯合成立「南區大專院校學生自治聯盟」，簡稱「南區大學聯盟」，以整合資源共享、學術經驗交流、跨校結盟活動與學生校際觀摩為主要目的。
目前有意願參與的學校為數不少，包括屏東師範、樹德科大、東方技院、高雄師大、高雄餐旅、和春技院、第一科大及義守大學等南台灣地區公私立大學皆熱烈響應。
高雄大學學治會會長陳亮銘指出「南大聯」目前尚屬籌備階段，並無明確的正式組織，雖然校與校之間聯繫、時間搭配困難與距離遠近不等諸因素，導致催生進度緩慢，不過陳亮銘樂觀的表示，希望透過聯盟的方式與力量結合南區大專院校，促成各校經驗的交流，創造更多合作的機會，達成落實整合教育資源的美意。
