The Flamboyant Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives /亮麗炫耀的─高雄電影圖書館
The important movie cultural center in southern Taiwan is now opening! Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives does not only set up a good example for bringing unused buildings to live but also create an ambiance of abundant movie culture. Its various activities such as film festival and relevant exhibitions has boosted its function of entertainment, making the use of the architecture to the full.
World of Multi-images
Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives is established in a refurbished unused architecture. The tone of inside decoration is mainly sliver gray. Its trendy materials impressed people as avant-garde. The theme building creates a broad and bright effect in its limited space by using light and shadow. You can feel the magic of movie once you enter the kingdom of the light.
Theater for the Citizens
The successful design of software and hardware in the film library is well liked by audience of different ages. Its fashionable style attracts the youngsters. Taiwanese classic film exhibition, the very first activity since its opening, has already invited certain amount of audience. While "Ducking Family" (Yang-ya Jen-chia) was screening during the Chinese classic film exhibition, the projection room on the third floor was so full that some audience had to sit on the isle. Amazingly, there was no complaint. The same scenario took place during the French film festival. From the audience's enthuastic participation, we can see that Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives has become a good place for citizens of all ages to enjoy films.
Volunteers' Participation
Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives aims to become a library of volunteers. Since its opening, volunteers' contribution is highly appreciated by the public. There are three shifts a day, ten members per shift. Before there is formal staff from the organization, these volunteers are the important power to keep the library running smoothly.
Culture along Love River/Rebirth of the Community
A sparkling point can lighten its surrounding area. Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives plays the role to enlarge this point to a surface. Starting from Love River, the whole Yan-cheng community becomes more active.
Film library as a staring point, Love River as a visiting route and together with the surrounding area, we can draw a recreation map of art along Love River. People can stroll along the river, enjoy the scenery, visit the museum and taste some local snacks.
In the future, whether it's in movie culture or community infrastructure, Kaohsiung Municipal Film Archives will attract people from everywhere like a shining ray of light.
南方電影文化基地─高雄市電影圖書館成立了！新的電影館不但創下閒置空間再利用的成功範例，營造出電影文化氛圍，同時，也適時的注入活潑的電影文化展演活動，進而將電影館建築主體、週邊環境、休閒娛樂的功能一氣呵成。
多重影像 光影新世界
高雄電影圖書館，是運用閒置建物整修而成。內部的設備，銀灰色科技流行物色及材質的運用給人一種現代、科技前衛的視覺印象。整個主題館場域以光影造景效果，讓不大的空間感覺寬敞及明亮，「光」的延伸，發揮了無限的聯想，一旦進入電影圖書館的光魅範圍，立刻就能感受電影的魔力。
普羅大眾的戲院
電影圖書館成功的硬體與軟體規劃，獲得不同族群觀眾的青睞。前衛流行新穎的造型吸引了年輕族群；在戶外電影院的設置功能，開館第一場「台語老片欣賞」活動找到它的第一批電影人口；三樓放映室推出「國語老片欣賞」系列，「養鴨人家」吸引爆滿觀眾，坐在走道的觀眾一點也不以為苦；「法國電影月」更是叫好叫座。從觀眾的參與投入可看到高雄電影館已成為一個兼容包蓄吸引不同年齡層民眾前往閱讀及觀賞影像的好地方。
義工投入的電影館
電影圖書館開館同時，即自我期許朝向「志工的館」目標前進，開館以來，透過義工的全力投入，獲得很不錯的迴響。一天三班，一次執勤人員有十人，在未有正式編制人員進駐，這批義工是電影館運作上軌的生力軍。
愛河文化流域社區再生的電影館
當一個「點」亮起來之後，自然帶動週遭環境的變化。高雄電影館成功的扮演從「點」的更新到「面」的推展任務。以愛河畔的光體出發，延伸到整個愛河文化流域，帶動鹽埕社區的復甦。
以電影館為起點、愛河流域為休憩旅遊動線，擴及週邊腹地，可以從事親水河岸步行、橋墩賞景、河邊景觀建築物走覽、藝文博物館聚落及小吃，走出一張愛河河岸藝文休旅地圖。
未來，電影圖書館就像它的建築物所發出的光芒一樣，無論是在文化電影使命或社區營造，都是一個熠熠的發光體，吸引著各方的朝聖者。
