The newly completed Cianjhen Fish Market, as the biggest commercial port and fishing port in Kaohsiung city, is definitely worth a visit for its fish market. Visitors can also enjoy looking it awesome vessels as they enter and leave the port.
Cianjhen Fish Market, located in the second Kaohsiung Port, is the largest fishery harbor in Eastern and Southern Asian. It allows vessels, that are 100,000 tonnes in weight and more than 300 meters long, to enter the port. The vessels carry 7,000 standard containers, 20 feet long, around the world. The port is equally busy day and night.
The area of Kaohsiung Port is not open to the public. People can only watch the vast vessels loading and unloading goods from a distance. Cianjhen Fish Market, is located next to the main waterway on peir 68, which, is itself, to be found in the west of Kaohsiung. Being three stories in height, 147 meters long, and people nicknamed the Cianjhen Fish Market as "stone ship". It is the largest ship-like building on the island.
The Fish Market provides varieties of national and international fish products, including human fist size Australian alalone, the Oceanian lobster, South black tuna, Argentine and Falkland island and squids and even Peruvian shark products.
Cianjhen Harbor functions as a fishing base for Taiwanese tunas, squids and American style netting boats, which form the world renowned pelagic fleet, which has fishing bases all over the world. In addition, it has world-class refrigerated facilities on the fishing boats. Cianjhen Fish Market has 108 stations on the 1st floor, where excellent display shelves for all the global fishery products; on the 2nd floor, there are 60 stations displaying agricultural products from all over the island, and on the 3rd floor, one can taste fresh culinary seafood at the restaurant while watching all kinds of vessels working.
When visiting the newly completed Cianjhen Fish Market, one can see the glittering lights from the vessels at night. Also, there are flash light appearing in the sky when the airplanes are preparing to land at the airport. What is more, there is an observatory on the top floor of the fish market, where one can experience the wonderment of its lights which almost appear to be dancing a waltz as they move across the night sky.

高雄港區是個門禁森嚴的地方，民眾常只能遠觀不能親臨觀看大船作業裝卸的概況，在主航道六十八號碼頭旁，高雄市前鎮漁港的西岸碼頭，有一艘被漁民暱稱為「石頭船」的建築，湛藍色的船身有一百四十七公尺長，內有二千坪的面積，三層建築是全台灣最大的船型建築，就是民眾隨時可以光臨的前鎮觀光魚市。
這裏有來自全世界的珍貴漁產。包括：一個有成人拳頭那麼大來自澳洲的鮑魚、大洋洲的龍蝦、比「黑甕串」還珍稀的南方黑鮪、西北太平洋蘇聯庫頁島附近公海的秋刀魚、阿根廷及福克蘭群島水域的魷魚，以及澳洲到印尼水域作業船隻帶回的「軟絲」，甚至中南美洲秘魯一帶的鯊魚製成的魚翅產品。
以前鎮漁港為母港的台灣鮪、魷魚及美式圍網船，構成世界知名的遠洋船隊，世界各地均有作業基地，更有全球第一的超低溫鮪延繩釣船，前鎮觀光魚市一樓的一百零八個攤位內，就是最佳的全球漁貨展示場，而二樓有六十個來自全台灣各地的縣市農特產品，三樓的海景餐廳可品嚐甜美的海鮮，欣賞著各式漁輪、商船作業，別具一番滋味。
剛成立不久的前鎮觀光魚市，夜間燈火妖嬈的夜晚將會是最迷人的賣點，船火點點，似真如幻，天空裡有一閃一閃的亮點，在眼前漸漸放大，客機準備滑降到小港機場，在前鎮觀光魚市這艘全台灣最大的石頭船頂樓瞭望台上，空氣牽著燈影浮動，像首緩緩讓你滑步輕移的圓舞曲。
