2008 Summer Kaohsiung Sizihwan Bay Festival

Sizihwan Bay is endowed with beautiful sunsets attracting as many local residents as out-of-town visitors. What makes Sizihwan Bay so special is that this location emits a romantic ambience through its natural setting. As a result, Sizihwan Bay is one of the most popular seaside spots in Taiwan. Building upon this strong asset, Kaohsiung City Government launched the "artificial beach at Sizihwan Bay Project" in 2007, and it was formally completed in June this year. The newly completed beach has made the sunset at the Sizihwan Bay even more compelling to visit.

As for tourism promotion, natural beauty sells. Sizihwan Bay has been considered a main attraction for presenting a charming characteristic of the city of Kaohsiung. However, the coastline of the beach at Sizihwan Bay had retreated substantially due to the construction of the adjacent National Sun Yat-sen University and beach erosion. In addition, piles of breakwater along the coastline had formed a negative impression of coastal landscaping. Thus, the city government inaugurated restoring the artificial beach at Sizihwan Bay, which was one of the projects incorporated with central government's "Shore Restoration and Landscaping Improvement Project." The restoration of the artificial beach utilized breakwater to construct the 160-meter headland forming a crescent-shaped coastline that is one kilometer in length and 50 meters in width. This project served as a means of protecting the coastline as well as creating an improved beach area. The city government is aiming to introduce the brand new oceanic image of Sizihwan Bay with sunshine, beach, and leisure created through a series of transformation projects.

In addition to the sunset and beach, there are many other compelling reasons to visit Sizihwan Bay this summer. A series of summer events - "2008 Summer Kaohsiung- Sizihwan Bay Festival" organized by the city government will take place at the beach from July 6 to August 31. This summer festival guarantees to satisfy visitors with all kinds of tastes, luring them with its natural beauty, music concerts, popular music concerts, aboriginal music concerts, street artist performances, bikini shows, outdoor movies, fireworks, BBQ, a beer bar, as well as the generous hospitality of Kaohsiung citizens.

西灣夕照 愛戀高雄

高雄西子灣是聞名全台觀賞夕照的濱海景點。在高雄市政府「西子灣海域養灘工程」６月完工之後，浪漫的西子灣於高雄港一港口北防波堤至中山大學海科院外側突堤間，出現長１公里、寬50公尺的彎月型沙灘，美麗的彎月型沙灘把西子灣落日映襯得更璀璨浪漫。

結合天然景觀特色是推展地方觀光的有效方法，西子灣美景更是高雄推展觀光是絕對不可錯過的一環，市政府從96 年起配合中央「海岸復育及景觀改善計畫」政策，開始進行西子灣養灘工程。用消波塊構築160公尺長的人工岬頭，在岬頭內側進行養灘，塑造出長１公里、寬50公尺的彎月型沙灘，這也是全國第一個由地方政府辦理的養灘工程。

高雄西子灣美景不僅全台知名，更是市民、遊客主要親水遊憩場所之一，但因中山大學建校圍堤造地及海水侵蝕影響，沙灘長度較中山大學建校前少了一大半，沿岸圍堤堆置的消波塊更對海岸景觀造成極大影響。因此，配合養灘工程，高雄市政府也正積極進行週邊景觀改造，提供給市民一個充滿「陽光、沙灘、休閒」的海洋城市新風貌。

迎接西子灣嶄新面貌，今年暑期市政府更精心策劃重現西子灣「西灣夕照愛戀高雄」系列活動，西子灣海水浴場將呈現峇里島賞浪漫海灘風情，的後花園，一場場精彩的夏日活動，將於７月６日正式登場，一直到８月31日，讓您整個夏天，除了盡情享受夏日沙灘美景之外，還可欣賞比基尼熱舞秀、音樂會、演唱會、原住民音樂秀、街頭藝人表演、露天電影欣賞、大型煙火秀，還可享用BBQ美食及啤酒吧。2008夏日之旅，高雄西子灣的這場海灘嘉年華您一定不可錯過！
