The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung Pre-event Series

Kaohsiung City won the right to host the World Games 2009 back in 2004. The World Games 2009 will follow the "Olympic model": our local representatives will participate in the event as "Chinese Taipei" and use the NOC(National Olympic Committtee) Flag as well as the delegate anthem in various ceremonies. Currently, all preparation tasks are in progress. Kaohsiung Organizing Committee (KOC) also has held Dragon Boat, Climbing, Roller Skating, and Tchoukball mock competitions to become better prepared for the World Games 2009.
The five upcoming pre-events are: the 2008 International Air Sport Event, the 2008 International Gymnastic Event, the Youth Korfball Championship 2008, the 12th Asian Petanque Championship and the 2008 International Water Ski Demonstration Event. According to estimates, more than 850 players from around the globe and within the country will attend these events. The first activity, 2008 International Air Sport Event, will be held between July 19th and 21st at Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park. Thirty-two jumpers will compete in the Accuracy Landing and 2-Way Canopy Formation competitions.
2008 Kaohsiung International Air Sport Event is commonly known as parachuting, a KOC representative explained. Parachuting is actually one of many different air sports under the supervision of Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), founded in 1905. Currently, FAI has 97 country members.
Included in these 2 events, Accuracy Landing involves jumpers trying to land as closely as possible to a target tuffet in order to receive a high score. The starting altitude is set at 3500 feet.
The 2-way Canopy Formation parachutists compete in groups of 3. One of the parachutists is the cameraman who films the performance and hands the video footage in for judging after landing.
The 2008 International Gymnastic Event will see approximately 294 players competing at the soon to be completed Kaohsiung Arena. The competition schedule is as follows: rhythmic gymnastics on October 28th & 29th, Trampoline, flipping mounts, and acrobatic gymnastics on November 1st & 2nd, and aerobic gymnastics on November 4th & 5th.

The Youth Korfball Championship 2008 has an age limit of 23 and under. To date, 12 teams from Holland, Czech, Germany, South Africa, Russia, China, Belgium, United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, Hong Kong, and the host Chinese Taipei, including 264 players will be competing. The location is at the National Kaohsiung Normal University Gymnasium.
The tentative schedule of the 12th Asian Petanque Championship is between November 3rd and 7th at the 228 Memorial Park next to Love River. It's estimated that about 238 players will be participating.
As for the 2008 International Water Ski Demonstration Event, it will be held at Lotus Pond on November 1st and 2nd. Ten players are planned to be in the competition.
2009世界運動會暖身賽

高雄市於2004爭取到2009年世界運動會的主辦權，2009高雄世運會將遵守「奧會模式」辦理，我方代表團以「中華台北」為名參加，屆時使用旗幟為中華台北奧會的會旗，升會旗等各典禮時則播放國旗歌。各項有關2009高雄世運的準備工作隨及展開，2006年、2007年財團法人2009 世界運動會組織委員會基金會(簡稱KOC ）舉辦龍舟、攀登、滑輪溜冰及巧固球等運動項目的暖身賽，提前為2009世運造勢宣傳。.jpg)
預訂於今年登場的５場2009高雄世運暖身賽系列分別為2008國際飛行運動暖身賽、2008國際體操暖身賽、2008年第５屆世界青年合球錦標賽、2008年第12 屆亞洲盃滾球錦標賽以及2008國際滑水示範賽，預計屆時將有國內外共850位以上的選手參加，除了國際飛行運動暖身賽在７月舉行外，其他４項賽事均在10月底、11月初登場。
率先進行的2008國際飛行運動暖身賽從７月19日起至21日在都會公園舉行，將有47人參加，此次比賽項目分為定點著陸、雙人疊傘2項。
此次比賽的飛行運動賽事，事實上就是一般人所熟悉的跳傘，KOC解釋，跳傘其實是多種飛行運動的家族成員之一，隸屬於1905年成立的國際飛行運動總會，目前成員國有97個。
２項飛行運動項目當中，定點著陸需降落於電子計分墊上，選手落地的位置距離中心點愈近，分數就愈高，飛行高度在3500英呎。
至於雙人疊傘，這項比賽一組為３人，並在一面張開的降落傘下進行，在降落時進行一連串指定表演，其中１人需將表演的過程錄影，錄下的影帶將交由評審評分，難度在於選手們能否在規定時間內正確完成動作。
國際體操暖身賽則有294位選手參賽，比賽地點是９月即將完工的小巨蛋，其中10月28、29日兩天比的是韻律體操，11月1、2日將進行彈翻床、騰翻與特技體操，最後的有氧體操則在11月４、５日舉行。
第５屆世界青年合球錦標賽參賽選手年齡需在23歲以下，已確定有荷蘭、捷克、德國、南非、俄羅斯、中國、比利時、英國、奧地利、西班牙、香港以及地主中華台北共12個隊伍。比賽地點在高雄師範大學體育館，屆時將估有264 位球員同場競技。
第12屆亞洲盃滾球錦標賽暫訂11月３至7日在愛河畔的228和平紀念公園舉行，預計有238位選手參賽。
至於國際滑水示範賽，則在蓮池潭進行，比賽時間是11月1、2日兩天，將有10位選手參加。
The World Games Pre-Events These "pre-events" are competitions held before the formal ones next summer. This is an opportunity for the host city to test the software and hardware of facilities, such as player registration, tally systems, drug control, and security and anti-terrorist measures. On the other hand, players can take this chance to build up experience, adjust their condition, and become familiar with the competition facilities. 何謂世運暖身賽？ 所謂的暖身賽，其實就是正式比賽前的賽前賽，對於主辦單位來說，可以提前用來測試場館的各項軟、硬體設備，例如選手登錄、計分系統、禁藥檢測、維安反恐等，對於選手而言，則可藉此累積參賽的經驗、調整狀態、熟悉比賽環境。
