Kaohsiung is situated in Taiwan's southwest. The Port of Kaohsiung is the world's 13th busiest container port, making Kaohsiung, Taiwan's Maritime Capital. Along with the port, there is the Love River that comes together with the ocean, providing the city with a scenic waterfront area.
The Love River flows through Kaohsiung's downtown. Throughout the year, it is the venue for many of the city's significant cultural events. These include dragon boat races and exhibits during Lantern Festival. The Love River is also known for its romantic gondola boat rides. There are also solar powered Love Boats and amphibious vehicles that also provide tours. It is recommended to take a ride down the river at dusk in order to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

The whole tour takes one hour and forty minutes.
Ferries depart at dusk from Singuang Ferry Wharf and take visitors through the First Port, Lingya and Penglai commercial container ports, the navy base, Cianjhen Fishing Port, the first to the sixth shipping container piers and returns through the Second Port before going back to Singuang Ferry Wharf. Visitors will see the Love Pier, Banana Wharf, Cijin Lighthouse, Asia's New Bay Area and the Dream Mall. This is a great way to see the city, enjoy the sunset and take in the magnificent oceanic scenery.
