Southern Taiwan's largest mall in Kaohsiung /南台灣最大購物中心高雄開幕
The FE21 MegA shopping mall grandly opened in October to draw more crowds and business opportunities for Santo business zone. President Chen Sui-bian attended the opening ceremony and approved of the third-generation new concept and trend-setting shopping mall, believing that it can boost the economy and create more jobs. Mayor Hsieh emphasized that Kaohsiung City Government (KCG) will spare no efforts in implementing major development projects to prove that investing in Kaohsiung is a wise choice. President Chen lauded Douglas Hsu, CEO of the Far Eastern Group (FEG), for his international vision, confidence in Taiwan and Kaohsiung, and devotion to economic and charitable activities. He said that residents in Greater Kaohsiung are well blessed with international standard MRT service and the best shopping mall in Asia. In addition to shopping arcades, the FE21 MegA boasts Warner Village Cinema Center, and a 1,000-ping Eslite Bookstore, expected to become the most important center for shopping, recreation, and cultural activities. According to Mayor Hsieh, the exit of R8 station of KMRT's Red Line will be installed near FE21 MegA. Other projects in the district include Petroleum Corporation's bid to erect an international convention center and exhibition center, Software Park, Taisugar Logistics Park, and the President Group's Dream Mall. Consequently, the district will emerge as the hub of southern Taiwan.

陳總統肯定徐旭東董事長有國際視野，對台灣、高雄有信心，心留台灣、深根工商經濟及各種公益事業，有具體貢獻。他覺得大高雄地區的民眾真有福氣，爾後可享受媲美國際水準的捷運通車品質，也擁有全亞洲最棒的購物休閒環境，購物中心將創造2500個就業機會，他期待藉由這兩個重要投資，讓大高雄地區全面動起來。 除了購物中心外，大遠百還引進具國際水準的華納威秀影城和佔地1000坪的誠品書店，購物中心將成為南台灣最重要的購物、休閒、娛樂及文化中心。 未來捷運紅線R8車站出口即設在遠百亞企中心附近，即中山二路與三多四路交叉口，謝市長指出，購物中心附近的成功路上，包括有市府刻正審查由中油投標計劃興建的國際會議中心及展覽中心，及軟體科技園區、台糖物流園區、統一夢公園複合商業中心等建設，未來這一帶將形成南台灣的精華所在，可以想像將來高鐵通車後，將吸引北部、中部的民眾。 |
