Enjoyable city – Kaohsiung / 嘉琳遊賞水高雄
Geraldine, from France, moved to Taiwan three years ago because of her husband's job. Upon arrival, the couple initially resided in Taipei, and then moved to Kaohsiung 1 year later. Geraldine even has a Chinese name called " Sue, Chia Lin" and she is also a fluent speaker of Mandarin.
When asking Geraldine about Kaohsiung, she explains happily that the whole experience of living in Kaohsiung is great. In particular, she likes the sunny weather and the low cost of living but most importantly, she thinks that there are lots of fun things to do in Kaohsiung.
During the last Dragon Boat Festival, Geraldine organized a team of friends to compete in the annual event. She describes it as being an exciting and unforgettable experience.
Geraldine also loves to go to "Monkey Mountain" - Chaishan. The beautiful views of Kaohsiung and the playful, mischievous monkeys are what attract Geraldine the most.
After being in Kaohsiung for 2 years, Geraldine's energetic nature has basically taken her to every corner of Kaohsiung. When her family came to visit her from France, she took them to see the monkeys in Chaishan, to watch the sunset in Sizihwan, to the romantic Love River, to eat along the famous night markets and to bargain at the Jade markets. They also enjoyed foot massages and learned some Chinese kung fu and Tai Chi. Geraldine also took her families to Tainan and Kenting, leaving them with a wonderful impression of Taiwan.
Being a woman from France, she is familiar with some of the best cuisine and most historical food known to the world. She loves to all sorts of food. She doesn't usually cook at home because she can find so much tasty food in Kaohsiung. She enjoys going to the night markets with her husband and friends in which one of her favorite drinks is Peal Milk Tea (Zhen Zhu Nai Cha). Sometimes they have Indian food and other times they might try Italian, or go to Cijin to enjoy the seafood. She explains eating as another one of the most enjoyable experiences in Kaohsiung.
Geraldine thinks that Kaohsiung is a lovely city, which makes people feel comfortable to live in, especially the Love River. Because they are staying by the Love River, Geraldine and her husband often walk along the riverbank. She also has regular meeting activities at the Love River with students from the French center who study at the National Sun-yet Sen University. Geraldine mentioned that the Lantern Festival, which was held in Kaohsiung, is what impressed her most.
This summer, Geraldine and her husband will be going back to France as her husband's contract is complete. However, Geraldine says that, Kaohsiung will always have a special place in her heart.
來台已三年的蘇嘉琳，不但有個中文名字，也能說一口流利的中文。嘉琳三年前隨著來台工作的先生一起來到台北，一年後又搬來高雄，一住就是兩年。
談起高雄，嘉琳就眉飛色舞起來，不但因為住在高雄的感覺很好、天氣晴朗、物價較低，最主要的原因是，高雄實在很好玩！
去年端午節嘉琳就和朋友組成中外聯軍的龍舟隊參賽，不但過程刺激好玩，還得到紀念品，嘉琳開心地表示，「真的是很難忘的經驗！」
嘉琳樂水也樂山，很愛往「猴子山」──柴山跑，不僅因為山上可以欣賞美麗的風景，更因為柴山裡可愛的猴子讓嘉琳喜歡得不得了。
住在高雄兩年，嘉琳可說是把高雄裡外都玩遍了，她舉例說，有次家人從法國來看她，她利用一星期的時間，帶家人到柴山上看猴子，在西子灣看落日，夜遊愛河，逛遍夜市、玉市，做了腳底按摩，學功夫、太極，還加上鄰近的台南、佛光山、墾丁、三地門，行程充實得不得了。
而來自擁有深遠美食文化的法國，嘉琳對於美食也相當地熱愛，嘉琳並不常在家裡做菜，因為高雄有好多好吃的東西，她說，尤其台灣的夜晚每個地方都相當熱鬧，她喜歡和先生、朋友一起逛夜市和新堀江，品嘗各種好吃好玩的小吃、小玩意，像是珍珠奶茶就是她的最愛之一。她也經常更換餐飲口味，在高雄品嚐各種不同的美味，可說是一大樂事。
嘉琳認為，高雄是個讓人感到很舒服的城市，尤其她和先生又住在美麗的愛河邊，不但常常在愛河邊散步，也定期和中山大學法語中心的學生在河邊聚會活動；燈會的時候更是佔盡地利，在大樓屋頂就能觀賞整片美麗又壯觀的燈海，嘉琳直呼真是太美了，一定要每年繼續辦下去。
然而今年夏天先生的工作期滿，蘇嘉琳即將回法國，不過她說，高雄會一直烙印在她的心海裡！
