Parks in the Port City - Birthday Park & Singuang Square

In recent years, well-planned green land parks have sprung up in every community. Lush greenery enriches urban life on crisp autumn days, and allows city dwellers to enjoy a green space at their own leisure. The Birthday Park and the Singuang Square both feature unique themes enjoy great popularity. Let's take a look around them, shall we?
-◆- Birthday Park
The 1.62-hectare Birthday Park, located at the intersection of Wenheng 2nd Road, Renjhih Street and Lingya 1st Road, is the only park that features a birthday theme in Taiwan.
An egg-shaped structure, the "House of Life", symbolizes lives breaking through eggshells. Its lavender lights beckon to the public. This attention-grabbing park provides a venue where people can celebrate the miracle of birth.
The Birthday Park will be owned by the public and run by the local people. Hundreds of birthday cakes are displayed in the oval structure, and visitors can also go to the 2nd floor to appreciate the park scenery. The 12-zodiac Parents and Children House, children's playground, and nighttime music and dance performances are open to the public as well. The Birthday Park combines the digital age, information, ecosystems, water fun, and entertainment; and is a place for both young and old.
-◆- Singuang Square
The Singuang Square is right next to the Tuntex Sky Tower, and serves as the gateway to Kaohsiung. To highlight the significance of this square, the city government has further implemented the "Star of the Ocean Environmental Improvement Project". The Coastal Park and Singuang Avenue are two major attractions, and both are designed with maritime and local weather themes.
The largest fountain in Taiwan, 35 meters in diameter, will be built on a vacant lot in the Coastal Park. It will be designed with a waterfront theme for children. The Singuang Avenue (at the corner of Singuang and Zihciang Road) will be remodeled into a square with a flowing water theme. A fountain apparatus, the "Misty Island", will be installed at the corner of Singuang and Jhongshan Road. Rising temperatures will automatically initiate the sprinkler to cool things down. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-February, 2006.
In order to make the Singuang Avenue a high-quality walking and bicycling path, the path will be widened to 7.5 meters.
At present, the Singuang Square is still under construction. It is located near the Kaohsiung Port and at the end of Singuang Avenue; therefore, the city government has decided to make this square an emblematic landmark in a progressive and creative way. Steel and hawsers were chosen as construction materials to give prominence to its maritime and industrialized themes.

佔地1.62公頃的生日公園是全國唯一的生日主題公園，位於文橫二路、仁智街及苓雅一路交界。 公園的設計以蛋形數位建築的「生命之屋」為主體，其蛋型建築物象徵生命破殼誕生的意象，且散發著淡紫色的燈光，讓人忍不住到公園一窺究竟，這個饒富趣味的公園希望能營造成為民眾分享誕生喜悅的園地。 生日公園以公有民營的方式委託民間經營，蛋形建築屋內提供上百種蛋糕選則，還可以登上2樓欣賞公園景緻；此外，週邊規劃有12星座為意象的「親子歡樂屋」、兒童遊戲區、夜晚在圓形表演場還有音樂及舞蹈等表演。這個以「生日」為主題的公園，結合數位、資訊、生態、親水、遊憩等功能，是老少咸宜的好去處。 -◆- 新光廣場
緊鄰85大樓的新光廣場，位居於高雄市的門戶地位，高雄市政府為凸顯新光廣場的重要性，規劃進行「高雄海洋之星門戶環境改善工程」，選定海岸公園及新光園道兩大主軸，兩項都是以海洋概念及高雄特有的氣候條件為設計考量。 其中海岸公園空地，將新建全國最大直徑35公尺兒童親水主題噴水池，成為視覺焦點；新光大道〈現新光路與自強路交叉路口〉將改建為具流水意象的廣場，新光路與中山路口，將設計一具水霧噴霧系統「迷霧之島」，氣溫升高時，會自動噴灑水霧，製造涼爽感覺，整體工程預定於95年2月中完工。 為了營造新光園道寬廣與優質的氣勢，未來新光路兩旁的人行道將擴寬為7.5公尺，規劃成優質的散步及自行車道。 儘管新光廣場尚未新建完成，但是市政府考量新光廣場是位處高雄港埠轉折處及新光路景觀大道的末端焦點，因此以前瞻性、開創性手法，樹立起象徵邁向海洋的地標意象。並且選用鋼材、纜索等現代建築元素與結構，表現港都高雄海洋意象與工商都會象徵。 |
