Comprehensive Control of Tour Buses was launched on September 1, 2016 will be coordinated with the opening of The Travel Shuttle Center Plan on Linhaisin Road to reduce the traffic impact of tour buses in Hamasen and Sizihwan areas. This plan will prohibit tour buses to enter this area but attractions around the Sizihwan MRT station, such as Hamasen and the Pier-2 Art Center that tourists can take paid shuttle buses (City Bus 99) to the Sizihean Scenic Areas to experience Hamasen culture in-depth. The Kaohsiung transportation bureau stated that total quantity control for tour buses launched on May 18, 2015 in Sizihwan and the prohibition of tour buses from entering the Hamasen area from1:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. during extended holidays this year which effectively improve traffic congestion in Hamasen. In the past, the roads were crowded with pedestrians and a large number of vehicles during the high season but the problem is solved this year. Instead, tourists choose to walk or take shuttle buses to Hamasen, or take ferries to the Cijin District. This area is still popular but no longer has traffic congestion and the traffic and parking issues are also declined. With the completion of the travel shuttle center on Linhaisin Road can provide 62 new parking spots for large vehicles (including 4 electric charging stations for charging large electric vehicles), the transportation bureau invited representatives from Sun Yat-Sen University, local village offices, travel associations, tour bus associations, and related government units to jointly discuss about tour bus control and reach a consensus. They decided to approach comprehensive control of tour buses on September 1. In addition, the transportation bureau also enacted related supporting measures, including providing more convenient parking transfer services, paid shuttles to bring tourists to Sizihwan, and setting up road signs for tour buses at surrounding streets, to make the tourist transfer services perfect and establish more friendly local tourism environment. Furthermore, the police department will clamp down on tour buses violating regulations to maintain the order of local traffic. The transportation bureau also stated that the measure of control of tour buses in Hamasen may cause some minor inconveniences for tourists but it will improve the local traffic situation and enhance travel quality in this area. It also connects nearby tourism resources to explore local history and culture in-depth and brings more benefits to tourism as a whole. Tourists not only travel here as group package tour but also have refreshing new experiences. The transportation bureau reminds all tour groups that plan to travel in Sizihwan can park their tour buses at the tour bus transfer center on Linhaixin Road and then transfer to tourist sites by shuttle buses. Everyone will be able to experience the culture of local buses in Kaohsiung city and slowly roam in Hamasen area. The transportation bureau will continue to observe Hamasen’s traffic situation to improve the overall traffic quality of the area and provide better transportation services for the large number of tourists.
