Poetic‧Dwelling―Wu Chiung-Chuen Solo Exhibition
2016-11-07

Exhibition Dates: October 29, 2016 to January 8, 2017 Exhibition Venue: Gallery B01, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts Supported by Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government Organized by Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts Appointed Deformaldehyde Coating Sponsor: HOPAX  Born in Cijin District of Kaohsiung in 1965, Wu Chiung-Chuen graduated from the Calligraphy and Painting Section of the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Normal University in 2011. Her ink paintings bring viewers not only artistic enrichment but also spiritual salvation. Combing fable-like or sarcastic metaphors and imaginative elements, her works are the entrance to a surreal utopia. The works in this exhibition convey her long-term concerns about our environment and society. She infuses in the works not only her understanding of the philosophical wisdom in the fables of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi but also her observation of local environment during her growing-up years. Merging ancient and modern, signifiers and the signified, and realism and surrealism, her works depict eerie and mystical contexts beyond verbal description, inspiring views to have more diverse associations and dialogues with the works.
